Australian TV viewers are very lucky right now. There has never been a better time to be in Australian television, with streamers creating great content. And Netflix is a serious winner with its new show Territory, now streaming.
“Territory” tells the story of the world’s largest Lawson Cattle Station, which has no successor. A clash between generations threatens to tear the Lawson family apart. Sensing that a once-great dynasty is in decline, the most powerful factions in the interior – rival cattle kings, desert gangs, indigenous elders, and billionaire miners – go on a killing spree. .

If you haven’t seen the show yet, you may have noticed comparisons to shows like Yellowstone and Succession. I’ll admit, I’ve made those comparisons too (although I’ve never actually seen Yellowstone). But while this show is very, very good and stands on its own, separate from Yellowstone for me, some fans aren’t so sure.
One Instagram user said: “What a joke…this is a complete rip-off of Yellowstone.”
“When Australians try to imitate Yellowstone,” wrote another, and one particularly cruel person described it as “Tem Yellowstone.”
“This show will never be as great as Yellowstone,” said another.
“There’s no place like Yellowstone,” added yet another non-believer.

Not only one person said, “I can’t wait for season 2,” but many others begged for a sequel, saying, “Season 2 and more episodes please.”
One American joked that he needed subtitles to understand the film, but loved it, saying, “I love it. It’s already number 3 on Netflix here in the US. All You have to use (closed captions) to understand the dialogue, but it’s certainly a nice watch. “
Territorial star reacts to comparisons to Yellowstone
So does the cast of Territory agree with the Yellowstone comparisons? Sam Corlett (Marshall Lawson), Philippa Northeast (Susie Lawson), Sam Delich (Rich Petrakis), Kylah Day (Sharnie Kennedy) weigh in on the matter spoke to Yahoo Lifestyle about his thoughts.
“The more, the merrier!” says Sam Delich. “I think it’s going to be compared to other things, just like any other crime drama in the world. I love Yellowstone, and I think Taylor Sheridan’s worldview is great, but I think it’s very different. I think in terms of Montana and the Northern Territory, it couldn’t happen.”More away.
“Of course, there are some similar themes, but overall I think Yellowstone fans love ‘Territory,’ but I think Territory stands on its own.”

I don’t know yet.” I’ve seen Yellowstone, so I don’t really understand the comparison. ”
“I’ve seen it all. I love Yellowstone,” Sam says with a smile. “It’s completely shameless.”
But Sam added that it wasn’t the comparisons to Yellowstone that made him want to join the show.
“When I saw the script, I gave it a 10 out of 10. I definitely wanted to play this role,” he says. “It definitely wasn’t the Yellowstone vibe that made me want to do this. It was just all the themes, all the darkness and juice.”
Sam Corlett says he’s ‘honored’ to be compared to Yellowstone
Sam Corlett says he doesn’t know much about Yellowstone, but admits it’s an “honor” that the territory is being compared to it.
“I haven’t seen much of Yellowstone,” he says. “Obviously it has had a very deep influence on the culture over there and over there. I think it’s an honor to be compared, but what I do know is that this is a very unapologetically Australian “And it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before,” he said on the screen. ”

Philippa says she doesn’t really think about comparisons, saying: “The Australian livestock industry is very different to the American livestock industry and we work with our hearts and minds on the details. So it’s really I don’t think so,” he said. Try comparing them in that sense. ”
