ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) – The Wisconsin Alliance for Animal Rehoming Activities (AWARE) has expanded its reach with the successful launch of Pet Expo LAX, an event aimed at helping local homeless animals.
The expo featured dozens of booths from vendors displaying animal-related products and services.
Cat lovers enjoyed a “paranormal” cat show hosted by the Windy Kitty Cat Club. The show featured both champion cats and domestic cats, showcasing a variety of feline talents.
One of the event organizers said such events help socialize the cats, and that a well-socialized cat is a well-behaved cat.
“We want to socialize the cats so that when they go to a new home, they’re fully adjusted,” says showrunner Carly Chunupun. “We also want to be able to socialize the cat when we go to the vet, because if there is an emergency and we have to handle the cat, we want the cat to be able to handle it as well. .”
AWARE has been supporting Wisconsin’s homeless animal population for 19 years.
