Electoral participation rates also appear to have improved, albeit only slightly, from a strikingly low baseline. Turnout was 38%, up from 34.4% in June’s election, according to exit poll data released by Alpha Research at 7pm, when voting closed.
“The people want a government, (they) want security and stability,” Borisov told reporters in the town of Bankya before the final vote count was known.
Borisov served as prime minister for 13 years until nationwide protests erupted in 2020 against Borisov’s government for allowing the oligarch to take control of state institutions.
“One of the main political contradictions in recent years is that (almost) everyone is convinced of the corruption of certain people, yet they continue to be at the head of parliament and continue to win political elections. ” wrote Daniel Smilov, director of the rules. He holds a law degree from the Liberal Strategy Center in Sofia. “Their support for political parties is paradoxical because they can hardly convince anyone that they are decent in their personal capacity.”
