The Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) has partnered with Tulsa Responds to provide resources to help families move toward financial stability and independence.
Although this partnership is new, both organizations have been active in Tulsa for several years. People who visit Tulsa Responds for services like tax filing can also now sign up for an appointment to learn more about financial education.
Joel Garapate Ikpo of Tulsa Responds said the goal is to help people build a path toward long-term stability and financial independence. FEC’s services are free and Garapate Ikpo says they are essential to their mission.
“Our overarching mission is to reduce all types of barriers that exist for our clients in accessing assistance to enroll in public benefits, maintain full tax refunds, and provide support to our clients through financial counseling services. It’s about being empowered,” she said. .
According to program manager Hieu Le, finance is not always well taught at home. Le hopes this new partnership will help more people gain a deeper understanding of their finances.
“It’s important that we serve because we empower people who don’t have financial education at home, and we also help them not only empower themselves, but also empower their future. It’s about acquiring knowledge so that you can do it,” Lu said.
Anyone can schedule an appointment with FEC through Tulsa Responds by visiting TulsaResponds.org/FEC or by visiting the Tulsa Responds office at 21st Street and Sheridan Road.
