HATTIESBURG, Mich. (WDAM) – Two Hattiesburg animal shelters and PetSmart teamed up Saturday to find forever homes for deserving dogs and cats.
The seventh annual Barktoberfest Trunk or Treat featured fosterable homeless pets from both Southern Pines Animal Shelter and Hub City Humane Society.
“People love Halloween and they love any excuse to go out in costume,” said Dani Snell, development manager at Southern Pines Animal Shelter. “We hope we can help them find friends today.”
The event was held at PetSmart.
“Barktoberfest” included waived adoption fees and lots of treats and activities for kids.
“Most of our donations and engagement come from people who have adopted from us in the past, so we build long-term connections with both other organizations and potential adopters. We really hope so,” said Katie Stafford with the Hub City Humane Society. member of staff.
PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week ends on Sunday, October 27th.
