Spark Media Partners and Cineflix Rights have signed the first format deal for the Château DIY brand, bringing the show to Australia with the local treatment.
The 5 x 60 minute Chateau DIY Australia follows an Australian family who give up their life in Australia and travel halfway around the world to start a new life in France. Following the same structure as Château DIY, the local version features multiple families at various stages of renovating or undertaking a castle.
Although Château DIY already sells finished tapes to multiple regions around the world, this is the first time the franchise has signed a format deal.
Spark Media Partners will produce the new series, with chief creative officer Geoff Hatfield-Powell serving as executive producer. Hatfield-Powell said: “We know that hundreds of brave castle owners come from all over the world to create fairytale lives renovating French castles, which is why Nine We are pleased to partner with the network to produce the first local version.” This is a worldwide format. ”
“‘Chateau DIY’ is a hugely successful show enjoyed by millions of viewers around the world,” said Richard Rife, senior vice president of acquisitions and co-productions at Cineflix Rights. We see a lot of opportunity for local versions of this format and are excited to announce this first deal, on the back of several recent international deals for existing seasons of UK shows .”
