YouTube is full of DIY videos for gear enthusiasts. Some videos will leave you awestruck by the mastery of their creators, while others will leave you amazed by the sheer power of the machines. This example does not particularly apply to any of these points. Instead, we see a pretty normal person building a pretty normal go-kart out of a perfectly normal wheelbarrow.
The resulting video makes the project very approachable and makes you feel like you could do it yourself.
I mean, can you get a dolly? yes. Can I get the parts this guy uses to build his go-karts? Yes, because he buys almost all of the parts he needs cheaply from Aliexpress and includes links to them in the description is. But of course, anyone would build a go-kart using readily available, inexpensive parts.
The guy building the go-kart obviously has a little know-how and the tools for the job, but he never seems overly confident or sure of himself. It gives the impression that it is quite possible to build a wheelbarrow go-kart yourself if you have the tools.
It’s fascinating to watch this unit transform from a regular push truck to a fully functional 4-speed 125cc go-kart. But what makes it even more amazing is when you realize what kind of ripper it is.
The engine is a 4-speed semi-auto 125cc unit, probably meant for pit bikes, so I wasn’t expecting much. But when the owner took it out on the track, it really fell apart. In fact, it tore so hard that the gas tank fell off and soon the oil cooler was hanging by a thread.
In reality, I don’t think the go-karts went that fast, but the short wheelbase made them look very sketchy and ended up being fun.
