I know I’m not the only pet owner with this exact problem. Since most of us don’t have pets that are also professional models, it usually takes several takes to get the perfect shot. However, with the latest developments in camera technology, this may soon become a problem of the past.
At the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm demonstrated that its latest mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, can be used to capture the perfect shot of your pet without duplication. The latest Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in the chipset powers a variety of AI capabilities that can process information from multiple inputs and data sources simultaneously.
Thanks to this technology, next year some cell phone cameras will be able to track your pet and use autofocus to precisely trigger the shutter when your beloved, sharp-eyed pet is staring straight into the lens. You will be able to make it blink. Essentially, instead of relying on you to react appropriately in the moment, the camera does the work for you.

AI doesn’t stop there. I’m excited to see which device manufacturers choose to take advantage of this. The only bad news? Unfortunately, the beautiful Golden Retriever will not be included with your next smartphone purchase. Instead, there’s never been a better time to head to your local pet shelter (or Maui Humane Society here in Hawaii) and adopt a furry friend of your very own. However, remember that dogs are for life, not just for photos.
