Taika Waititi and Charles Yu introduce a new reluctant hero in their new action-comedy series “Interior Chinatown.” Hulu has released a trailer starring Jimmy O. Yang, Ronnie Chen, Chloe Bennet, Lisa Gilroy, Sullivan Jones, Archie Kao, and Diana Lin. The limited series will be executive produced by Taika Waititi (who also directed the pilot) and Charles Yu (creator and showrunner). The series will premiere on November 19, 2024 with 10 episodes.

“Based on Charles Yu’s award-winning book of the same name, the show tells the story of Willis Wu, a background character caught up in a police procedural called ‘Black & White.’ Behind the Scenes Relegated to his job, Willis works on-screen jobs and waits for his turn, dreaming of a world beyond Chinatown and yearning to be the star of his own story. Willis inadvertently witnesses a crime. As he begins to unravel Chinatown’s web of crime, he discovers his family’s hidden history and what it feels like to be in the spotlight.
Series creator Charles Yu will serve as executive producer, while Rideback will be executive produced by Dan Lin and Lindsay Liberatore. Participants include Jeff Skoll, Miura Kite, and Elsie Choi.
