Joseph Lane, a real estate expert at Mortgage Lane, said with “a little bit of effort” you can make your home “stand out and sell for top dollar.”
With that in mind, the pros have shared four “easy tips” to help you buy your home for the best price possible.
1. Clean thoroughly
Before you put your home on the market, take the time to make sure it is clean and clutter-free.
The expert explained: “Focus on important areas such as the kitchen, bathroom, living area, bedroom, and outdoors.
“A thorough tidying, dusting, and cleaning of surfaces will increase the appeal of your home and increase your chances of selling for a higher price.”
2. Eliminate all personal contact
When selling a home, it’s important to create a neutral space that prospective buyers can easily imagine.
Experts recommended putting away personal items, such as family photos and memorabilia.
It added: “Remove all religious symbols and political affiliations as they can make the space too personal.”
3. Refresh your kitchen
The kitchen is considered the heart of the home and can be easily refreshed within a day.
Joseph said: “We’re not talking about a complete kitchen renovation, but beyond just cleaning, a few fixes can make a big difference.
“An easy solution in the kitchen is to paint your cabinets in a trendy color, but avoid very bold or dramatic colors.
“Replacing the handle and replacing it with a new one also makes a big difference.
“However, if you don’t want to spill money, make sure all handles are fully functional and not loose or broken.”
4. Upgrade your bathroom
An outdated and ugly bathroom turns off many buyers. In addition to a deep clean, there are a few simple changes you need to make.
Experts recommended removing all clutter in the bathroom, including hiding toothpaste, shampoo and cosmetics.
Consider purchasing new plush towels to decorate or some nice candles to create a calming space.
All of these quick changes can be made for less than £100 and can add significantly to the price of your home.
