NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Dogs and their owners lined up as local nonprofit The Inner Pup distributed healthy dog food to ensure dogs’ bowls were never empty.
“People want to be the best owners they can be for their pets, so being able to give them the tools to be that good owner is really exciting. We feel like it’s something that’s really needed,” said Blue Taylor, Inner Pup’s executive assistant.

Inner Pup co-founder Gene Goldring explains that they reached out to organizations about pet disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. She says the local nonprofit doesn’t want anyone to worry about feeding their pets during difficult times.
“Pet food is so expensive. And there are a lot of pet owners here who love their pets and are forced to buy the best quality nutrition for their pets. Therefore, this offer we It’s just sensational,” Goldring said.
Many pet food buyers say these distributions help in a number of ways.
“I feel really appreciated and blessed because yes, I have two large dogs. And believe me, it’s hard to buy them food and stuff. But that’s why I’m so blessed,” said pet owner Cynthia Estrello.

“I have two big boys and their food is just as expensive as ours, so it’s not easy. But I’m grateful you guys have this program, and Never quit,” said pet owner Dee.
Organizers want pet owners to know that if they have a pet and need help, organizers are always there.
“We are here to bridge the gap for people who are struggling to own a pet. For owners in the community who don’t have the means to provide the care we want to provide, we are here to help.” ‘So they don’t have to give up their pet,’ Taylor said.
“We do monthly heartworm and flea prevention clinics because heartworm disease is a viral disease and not a viral disease,” Goldring said.
