If you’re celebrating Halloween, you only have two weeks left to decorate your home and prepare for the spooky holiday.
One simple and affordable project that can be assembled by October 31st comes from DIY enthusiast and home decor fan Michelle.
In her Instagram Reels, she showed how to make a floating ghost that creates a glowing effect when placed over a battery-powered tealight candle.

The main craft supplies you’ll need for this project are packs of air-drying clay. Get it at Kmart for just $3.25.
To mold the clay into the shape of a ghost, she glued a foam ball onto toilet paper, but said, “Any kind of ball or small vase will work.”
Before using air-dried clay, you need to stretch it, just like you would with dough.

She then placed the clay over the foam ball and used her fingers to give the clay the shape of a ghost.
To create the eyes and mouth, Michelle cut three holes with wooden dowels.
Once dry, paint the ghost white. You could have stopped at this step, but to make the ghost even cuter, Michelle used her Cricut machine to cut out some vinyl flower shapes to stick on.

“I loved making these floral tealight ghosts. They were so easy to make with air-dry clay and they looked so cute. @cricut_anz I used JoyXtra to make these pretty colored vinyl ghosts. I cut out the flowers, drew a ghost on them with acrylic paint and sealed them. Cabot’s Cabosein is clear,” Michelle captioned the post.
“Simply adding LED tealights underneath will not only give you a spooky glow, but will also make it look like ghosts are floating around.”
LED tea lights can also be purchased from Kmart for $3 for a pack of 6.
Once complete, Michelle beautifully styled her ghost DIY on a terrazzo-like tray with mini pumpkin decorations and a vase of flowers.
