The perfect maternity costume? You can’t go wrong, especially since it’s so comfortable. But don’t expect to wear this super adorable (and warm!) costume.
For ladybugs:
1) Cut the red poncho down the middle and curve the bottom cut so that each side of the poncho looks like a ladybug’s “wings.”
2) Cut out equal amounts of circles of the same size to create black “spots”.
3) Hot glue the circle to the poncho. Be sure to put the same amount on each “wing”.
4) Paint the two foam balls black and let them dry completely.
5) Fold the black pipe cleaner in half. Attach one of the foam balls to one of the black pipe cleaners by pressing the pipe cleaner into the foam ball until it is firmly seated. Repeat with other painted foam balls.
6) Fold the other end of the pipe cleaner in about 0.5 inch and hot glue it to the black headband at evenly spaced intervals to create the antenna.
For dads with long legs:
1) Attach 3 giant pipe cleaners to one side of the umbrella with lots of hot glue.
2) Attach the other three giant pipe cleaners to the other side of the umbrella and repeat. When doing so, be sure to leave space in front for your face.
3) Cut two circles approximately 3 inches wide from white foam paper.
4) Cut two circles approximately 2 inches wide from black foam paper.
5) Hot glue the black circle to the white circle to create the eyes. Attach the eyes evenly to the front of the umbrella using hot glue.
6) Cut two triangles approximately 5 inches tall from black foam paper to create the “tusks.”
7) Hot glue two triangles to the front of the umbrella, slightly closer than the eyes, to create fangs that emphasize the spider’s appearance.
