I use The Business Platinum Card® from American Express for all my business travel. It’s the perfect card for travel, with lots of travel credits, protections, and perks.
$200 airfare credit
With Amex Business Platinum, you can select your preferred eligible airline and receive up to $200 in annual airline-claimed airline statement credits. This means you can pay for checked baggage, in-flight meals, Wi-Fi, and other airline fees and receive up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year (registration required).
I’ve been making the most of this credit over the past few years by primarily flying from the East Coast to the West on Delta. I was able to save miles and money by purchasing a basic economy ticket, accumulating points, and paying for checked baggage if needed. I also enjoy food and drinks on the plane knowing that it will be covered.
TSA PreCheck and CLEAR® Plus Credit
Flying can be stressful, but waiting in long lines will be a thing of the past when you sign up for CLEAR® Plus and TSA PreCheck. Amex Business Platinum offers a statement credit that covers the annual cost of CLEAR® Plus service (currently $199) and TSA PreCheck (up to $85 through TSA PreCheck Official Enrollment Provider) every 4.5 years after application. 5-year membership or Global Entry every 4 years ($100 credit).
Since I don’t travel much internationally right now, CLEAR® Plus credits and TSA PreCheck credits can save me valuable pre-flight time on domestic trips. You’ll be happy to never have to wait in a regular TSA security line again.
Elite status at hotels and car rental companies
Several hotels and rental car agencies have partnered with American Express to offer elite status to Business Platinum cardholders when they register.

These different elite status levels offer benefits such as free upgrades, discounted services, and more. Traveling becomes even more fun when you know you can choose the car of your choice with Hertz or get a free room upgrade with Marriott.
Amex Premium Rental Car Coverage
Rental cars are expensive, and rental car insurance can cost hundreds of dollars more. The Business Platinum Card® from American Express comes with Premium Rental Car Protection 3, which provides secondary insurance included with the card and primary insurance for a flat fee of up to $24.95 per rental period (not per day). Masu.
This rental car primary coverage provides cardholders with up to $100,000 in damage or theft coverage, up to $100,000 in accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), and secondary medical expenses (per person). ) up to $15,000 and personal property coverage up to $5,000 ($15,000 for Florida residents). You can have up to 42 consecutive days of coverage and pay as little as $24.95 or less. I’ve used this coverage every time I rented my card for the past few years, and it easily saved me nearly $1,000 in unnecessary insurance costs.
Lounge access
Let’s be honest: Traveling can be stressful. Long wait times, noisy airports, and subpar food can make the experience even worse. But since I got the Amex Business Platinum Card a few years ago, I’ve been able to avoid all of these stressors with lounge access. Amex Business Platinum Cardholders have access to American Express Centurion Lounges worldwide, as well as Priority Pass Select Lounges, Escape Lounges, Plaza Premium Lounges, and Delta SkyClub (restrictions and registrations may apply) ). Starting February 1, 2025, American Express Platinum Cardmembers will have access to Delta Sky Club 10 times per year. Earn unlimited visits when your total purchases exceed $75,000 in 2024 and each calendar year thereafter.
I fly to Seattle several times a year and had the pleasure of enjoying the very new Centurion Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA). Complimentary lattes, a delicious breakfast buffet (I travel early in the morning), and a quiet lounge area allow you to relax and not stress on your travel days.
Alternatively, if you book a flight in economy or higher, you’ll fly through the Delta Sky Club at Tampa Airport (TPA) (basic economy is not eligible). This lounge keeps me close to the gate and provides free food and coffee while I wait for my flight.
amex transfer partner
American Express offers one of the best rewards programs of any card, including partner airlines and hotels, and allows you to transfer your membership benefits directly into these partner programs. This allows you to save more and maximize your points when you book flights and hotels directly with airlines and hotel chains.
And with the Business Platinum Card, I’ve earned hundreds of thousands of membership rewards over the years. As a result, I was able to get free flights and hotel stays. My favorite transit partner is Delta Airlines. There are many direct flights from Tampa to major airports across the country.
Although I wasn’t on a business trip, I recently booked a last-minute concert in New York City and was able to instantly transfer my Membership Rewards to Delta for a total of just 19,000 miles round trip. I did. The process was easy and I had my flight booked within minutes.
Business Purchase Credit and Protection
Some of the biggest benefits of the Business Platinum Card are the business purchase credits it offers. A summary of these credits is as follows:
Up to $400 in Dell.com credits per year ($200 semi-annually) Up to $360 in Indeed.com credits per year ($90 quarterly) through 24/12/31 Up to $150 in Adobe annually through 12/31/24 e Creative Solutions Credit Up to $120 Wireless Statement Credit ($10/month) through 24/12/31 Registration required for select benefits
I’ve personally used Dell.com credits to purchase headphones, new monitors, and other business technology products. I don’t use Indeed Credits, but I do subscribe to Adobe for video editing and save bundles. The annual wireless statement credit puts $10 back on your card each month to help offset your cell phone bill.
In addition to purchase credits, you can have peace of mind on all your business purchases thanks to the purchase protection provided by the Business Platinum Card. With up to $10,000 in coverage for lost, stolen, or damaged items within 90 days of purchase, you don’t have to worry too much about more expensive business purchases.
Cell phone coverage⁴ also means that if you replace or repair your phone (up to $800 in coverage), you’ll only be reimbursed for a $50 deductible.
