The 2024 Dubai Fitness Championships is scheduled to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from December 6th to 8th.
Since its inaugural competition in 2012, the Dubai Fitness Championships has produced winners such as Annie Thorisdottir, Matt Fraser, Sam Briggs, Sara Sigmundsdottir and Brent Fikowski.
In 2023, Roman Krenikov beat Ricky Garrard and Lazar Yukic to top the podium in the men’s race, while Karin Frei beat Andrea Solberg and Claudia Gluck to win for the second year in a row.
💰💰: 1st place will receive a $50,000 prize, and “best time,” “best lift,” “best newbie,” and “best veteran” will receive a $2,000 bonus.
Over the years, we’ve seen moves like the A-frame jump, the flying pushup, and the reverse grip chest-to-bar. Additionally, DFC’s unique cardio events feature athletes running through sand dunes, obstacle courses, climbing indoor ski slopes, and climbing the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

More than any other sport, Dubai seems to force athletes to adapt on the fly, testing their athleticism while displaying skills such as speed, strength and stamina.
This year, the event used both an invitation-to-attend format and an online qualifying system.

This will be Luka Yukic’s first appearance since the European semi-finals, where he and his brother Lazar qualified for the CrossFit Games. He took first place in the online qualifiers.
Luka Yukic has withdrawn from the 2024 CrossFit Games following Lazar’s death during the first competition.
This isn’t Luka’s first DFC appearance for Ukic — he finished seventh in 2022 and ninth in 2021.

Veteran Kristin Holte announced her retirement after finishing fourth at the 2021 CrossFit Games. She competed as an individual that year, but had qualified for the Masters division at age 35. She continued to participate in the British Open and was part of Team Kriger at the 2022 TYR Wodapalooza.
This will be her first time competing as an individual on the field since the 2021 Games.
Last year, young athletes Claudia Gluck (3rd place) and Aniol Ekai (5th place) finished in the top five. Later that season, both athletes qualified for the CrossFit Games as rookies. All eyes will be on this year’s final leaderboard to guess who will be the next star to watch.
Roman Khlenikov, Ricky Garrard and Karin Frei are absent from this event, but all three have finished on the podium multiple times over the past few years.
The most notable absence is probably Lazar Yukic, as he was a big presence in the DFC.
He has been participating in the event since 2018 and had competed every year before that. His highest ranking was in 2021, when he finished second behind Khlenikov.
